Context:

This project comes from the main creator of a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic/Powerpuff Girls fan-made crossover episode known as “Double Rainboom” that I saw back in 2013. Internet crowdfunding was required for a pilot episode for their new original series, after they were turned down by various Hollywood studios.
