Context:

I had never heard of the Shenmue series before this Kickstarter was announced at an E3 conference in 2015. After seeing the hype of how many people started to back it, and seeing gameplay of the original 2 games, I decided to back this Kickstarter.

Result:

Shenmue 3 was released on November 20, 2019. First promised as a Steam release, it came as an Epic Games Store key first, with the option to also get an additional Steam key offered via a survey.

In November 2020, the Steam keys were given to backers.
